Day 3: Finding Gold

Key Moments Summary

Beginning - Today’s training begins by playing a video of past challengers who have gone through and seen the results from selling on Amazon and what different Rainmaker products look like.

3:49 - Cassidyy welcomes everyone to the third day of the challenge which is all about finding gold, i.e., identifying hidden product opportunities on Amazon. Stephen introduces the concept of "matching velocity" to achieve front-page visibility on Amazon—a strategy that involves aligning product sales with those of top-ranking products. Through the analogy of posting baby photos on Facebook, he explains how products that gain attention and engagement rise to the top of search results, emphasizing the importance of attracting customer interest. He encourages challengers to adopt a proactive mindset and explains that while they can achieve front-page status, staying on the front page requires offering products aligned with market demand instead of something you just think people will like. He explains that you do this by focusing on data analysis to make informed product choices.

13:01 - Stephen explains that some of the challengers may be feeling overwhelmed. He plays a video from Dr. Shannon Irvine, a neuropsychologist, who emphasizes that feelings of overwhelm, discouragement, and resistance are indicators that individuals are moving towards significant goals and growth. Using the analogy of a rubber band under tension, she explains that the discomfort and resistance experienced are signals of the brain's efforts to maintain familiarity and safety. By recognizing these signals and shifting one's mindset, everyone can navigate past mental barriers and pursue their desired outcomes. They encourage proactive decision-making and preparation to counteract these patterns and highlight that embracing discomfort is essential for growth and transformation. Challengers are encouraged to understand that shifting their thinking is essential for progress and to use feelings of overwhelm as a motivation to push forward and achieve their goals.

19:33 - Stephen discusses three product qualifiers: demand, competition, and profit margins. He also gives advice to avoid pitfalls such as focusing on products that already sell, finding the right audience before creating a product, and looking for ways to improve and innovate on existing products. He emphasizes the importance of data in the product research process and using it to create products that meet the needs of customers.

24:38 - Chelsey explains that everyone is wired to be creative, even if they are not traditionally considered to be an artist or photographer. Humans have a unique ability to be creative and innovate and Stephen and Chelsey encourage challengers to cancel the false belief that they are not creative and to embrace their nature as creators. Stephen advises to focus on evergreen products that have consistent sales, rather than trendy products that might be popular for a short time. He also advises against going for "home run" products, which are high-risk and less passive, and instead recommends going for base hits and stacking them up over time to build a sustainable income portfolio.

28:10 - It is discussed what items you should avoid selling on Amazon as a first-time seller such as weapons, hazmat items, topical products, and books. Stephen advises approaching certain categories with caution, such as electronics, cell phone accessories, supplements, beauty products, and consumables. The importance of taking time and care with product selection to build a passive business is emphasized and taking breaks is encouraged so you can work from a place of rest rather than hustle.

32:25 - Stephen walks through The Product Research Checklist, which is used to qualify a product idea. He breaks it down step by step to learn exactly what you’re looking for in a profitable product. The first step is to start in Helium 10’s Magnet tool to search for a product idea. Sort the results from high to low search volume. Look at the results one by one and determine the TSCRK. If you’re unsure, click on the keyword. Do the products showing on that page match what you had in mind for your product idea? Click on the lifetime sales graph and see if the product has an evergreen sales pattern. If so, continue onto the next step.

38:54 - Now it is time to analyze the aisle, or keyword, to determine if this would be a good product opportunity. Stephen explains that if the Helium 10 Chrome extension is not showing up at the top right of the browser, click on the puzzle piece icon and then pin it to your extensions toolbar. Stephen clicks on the X-ray tool and asks these questions: are there products on the page with less than 1,000 reviews, is the average price above $15, is there more than one brand selling this product, and are the top sellers selling more than 300 units of that product?

47:27 - Stephen introduces the Power Profit Tool, which is an exclusive Rainmaker tool which helps students know if their product could be profitable. He reminds challengers that the ideal profit margin they’re looking for is between or above 35-55%. He introduces the Helium 10 Profitability Calculator, which allows the user to check the estimated unit manufacturing cost. He continues with the example product and shows how to also find the estimated FBA and shipping costs and where to input those estimates on the Power Profit Tool. Stephen also emphasizes the importance of doing product research to know how to improve the product, but also to check with the manufacturer (tomorrow’s training) to ensure it still fits within the desired margins.

56:30 - Stephen introduces the Black Box tool which is used for those who don’t have any product ideas yet. It is discussed that you can simply click on the “simple” mode which will help those who are using the tool for the first time. You simply decide the product category, if you want to improve the product a lot or little, how competitive the product is, the average price, and what you desire the monthly revenue to be.

1:00:13 - Chelsey introduces Linda. Prior to joining Rainmakers, she had sold her brick-and-mortar nail salon, which involved long hours and minimal profits. Seeking a change and intrigued by the concept of passive income and time freedom, she embraced the training program despite feeling nervous. She followed the process outlined by Stephen and Chelsey, trusting in their guidance. Over the course of less than three years, Linda's journey led to impressive results. She reports reaching nearly $700,000 in revenue for the current year and is on track to hit $1.2 million by the end of the year.

1:05:23 - Saralynn shares her story and emphasizes the personal transformation that resulted from her involvement in the Rainmaker program. She discusses how the program helped her find her identity beyond being a mother and wife, allowing her to pursue her own passions and dreams. Saralynn’s perspective reflects the deeper impact of the program beyond financial success—empowering individuals to discover and embrace their true potential. Her words about "dreaming with her eyes open" and living the dream she wanted to achieve encapsulate the personal growth and empowerment she and so many other Rainmakers have experienced.
